I reside in Tennessee. I am looking for the zoning and land use requirements. I would like to know whether I need a commercial, agricultural or will a residential zoning suffice. Where can I find that specific information outside from paying a lawyer for a consult.

In CA you need to be zoned agricultural. Maybe not your state, but you can find out for free.
Simply call up your counties planning commission and ask them. You need a permit to build the kennel, so they will know what kind of zoning is required for the permit.
